This is the beach I return to again and again, the photo on my home page. I’ve been visiting this beach ever since I was a child. I've loved walking along the shoreline collecting Pelican's Foot shells — small, unusual, and always a little thrill to find - and I've never found them anywhere else.

Years later, after losing a close friend far too young, her son told me something I've never forgotten. He and his mum had always collected these shells together, and whenever he finds one he thinks of her, as now do I.

For me, the Pelican's Foot shell has become a gentle symbol of the people we love and the memories they leave behind — a reminder that grief and love sit side by side, and that sometimes the smallest things can bring comfort, a smile, or a sense of closeness to someone we've lost.

Whenever I find one, I pause for a moment and think of those who are no longer here, but whose stories, love and influence remain with us every day.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT ME

"Emma worked closely with me and my immediate family to prepare and deliver a beautiful, poignant and moving ashes scattering ceremony for my brother who was taken from us too soon.  Emma's knowledge and support in the lead up and her presence on the day were just what we needed as a family.  Emma helped us incorporate a beautiful poem that my brother had written into the ceremony, she has a gift with langauge and expressing deep emotions.  I would highly recommend Emma to anyone wanting to mark the passing of a loved one without stress and with great dignity and beauty."
